Vinyl Siding Profiles

Designer/Dutchlap

Designer or Dutchlap, is the most popular vinyl siding profile. Used on the majority of homes due to its low cost, excellent looks, and ease of installation.

Traditional/Lap

Traditional or Lap is the other most commonly used profile, used for the same reasons as Designer while providing the look of tradition wood lap siding.

Board and Batten

Board and Batten vinyl siding is a vertically installed vinyl siding most often used on accent walls or gables. Typically not use on large areas due to its 10′ height and increased cost when compared to Designer or Traditional.

Shake

Vinyl Shake is most commonly used on gable ends, or on accent walls to provide contrast. It is by far the most expensive vinyl siding profile available.

What Vinyl Profiles are available?
There are three main profiles that Vinyl siding is available in. Horizontal, which is available in either a Traditional (Lap) or Designer (Dutchlap), Board and Batten, as well as shake.
Between the main four vinyl siding manufacturers there are well over 100 colours available.
Vinyl siding typically starts at $4 a squarefoot and goes up from there. Pricing depends on various factors such as colour, manufacture, siding profile, and the house itself.
Vinyl siding is low-maintenance, not no-maintenance. Vinyl siding does not require painting or staining but may require a simple cleaning with a garden hose.
Regular vinyl siding itself will not increase energy efficiency. Although you can install vinyl siding that is back with insulation, or add up to 2” of insulation behind it before installation to increase R value and energy efficiency.
We offer a 5-year workmanship guarantee on all of our vinyl siding installations. The warranty of the material itself is dependent on the manufacture you choose, typically being at least 25-years on fading and manufacturing defects.
