What is Soffit and Fascia?

Fascia is the material which covers your fascia board, which is the framing connected to the end of your homes rafter tails and provides a strong, stable surface for your gutters to be installed onto. Fascia is most commonly made of aluminum, although steel can also be used in certain applications.

Soffit is the material located under the overhang on your homes roof. It can be many different materials such as wood, aluminum, steel, or PVC. Highly recommend! We had Hardie Board siding and new gutters put on our house. We couldn’t be happier with the look of our home. The crew from Let It Flow were amazing! Soffit FAQ's

What is Soffit?

Soffit located on the underside of your roof overhang, typically it is either wood or aluminum. The purpose of soffit is to provide ventilation to your attic, aiding in the heating and cooling of your home.

Fascia is the material covering your fascia board, which is the framing that your gutter connects too. Typically fascia cladding is Aluminum, although other materials such as steel or PVC can also be used.

As your gutters attach through your fascia, into your fascia board, they will need to be replaced in order to replace your soffit and fascia. Don’t worry, we also offer 5″ Continuous aluminum eavestrough installation to make the process seamless and easy.

Each home will cost something different due to numerous factors such as the fascia size and linear footage, the soffit overhang and total square footage, along with the gutter footage.

The three main reasons to replace your soffit and fascia are ventilation, aesthetics, and maintenance. 

As your soffit provides vital ventilation to your homes attic, it is important that your soffits aren’t clogged or under ventilated. Often on older homes with wood soffit there are only a few wire mesh vents, which are often clogged with dust and debris. On older homes with aluminum or steel soffits this is often the case as well. By replacing your soffit you allow for us to remove your under ventilated soffit with new, vented aluminum soffit, ensuring proper airflow into your attic.

Older soffit and fascia can be an eyesore to look at as well. Whether it is peeling painted woof soffit or sun faded fascia, it isn’t pleasant to look at. By replacing your old soffit and fascia you enhance your homes appearance and eliminate any potential maintenance that is associated with painted wood.
